Why Sales?

I still remember the first day of my sales job like yesterday. I was a total pro, ready to crush it from the get-go. Just kidding, I was a nervous wreck, sweating more than a marathon runner in Dubai’s summer heat, and had absolutely no clue what I was doing. But, as they say, ‘fake it till you make it,’ right? So, I put on my best suit, my most confident smile, and walked into the office, ready to conquer the sales world.

It was just one month into my Dubai job hunt when I landed a sales executive position in a recruitment firm. Little did I know that my first day would be a complete disaster. I stumbled over my words, got tongue-tied, and failed to make a single sale. I went home feeling like a loser, convinced that I was never cut out for deals.

But hey, who needs sales when you have Brian Tracey’s videos, right? So, I spent hours watching those bad boys and implementing sales techniques in my everyday conversations. I read every sales book I could find and shadowed my colleagues like a stalker.

Slowly but surely, I started to see results. I closed my first sale, then my second, then my third. It was like a switch had been flipped, and suddenly, I was a salesperson in Recruitment. People still believe we’re just recruiters, but little do they know that we make sales and close deals to get the projects, and then recruit for them.

Now, after four years of ups and downs, I’ve learned a thing or two about sales, productivity, and life in general. And I’m excited to share my journey with you, one episode at a time. Sure, I may still consider myself a newbie, but I learn from my colleagues and clients every day. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll even write a bestselling book on sales, but for now, I’ll stick to sharing my hilarious and honest stories with you. Because let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good sales story with a touch of sarcasm?
